Biography"Gifford Beal had an unusually long and productive career as an American painter and printmaker. He showed a painting in a National Academy exhibition before the turn of the century and continued to produce and exhibit until his death in 1956 at the age of 77 years. Beal served for many years (1916-1930) as President of the Art Students League of New York... Gifford Beal's works are to be found in major museums across the country, including the Metropolitan Museum, Chicago Art Institute, San Francisco Art Institute and the Concordan, Phillips and Library of Congress collections.
