DescriptionAn early representational work by the artist, Rocky Shore depicts a shoreline of the West Coast, and is executed in a realistic style. The viewpoint, slightly elevated, of an alcove leading out to open sea is balanced on the left by a rock formation, cropping the composition. Value ranges are subtle with the intent to model light and dark areas objectively.
