Kristine Keheley

Kristine was fortunate to have lived in Europe for most of her childhood. She has been significantly influenced by those early years of travel and exposure to great art and architecture.

She graduated from Dartmouth College in 1986, with a double major in Classical Archaeology and Art History. While attending Dartmouth Kristine studied art and archaeology in Italy, Greece, Germany, Spain, England, and Turkey. She moved to Taos, New Mexico, in 1989 at the age of 24 to focus on painting.

Kristine has had numerous solo exhibitions and her work has been selected for juried and group shows in New York, Princeton, Taos, Santa Fe, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Laguna Beach. Her paintings are included in the corporate collections of Novo Nordisk and Pennsylvania Power & Light, as well as private collections in several countries.

Travel for visual research and inspiration has been a continuous part of Kristine's artistic process. Major locational influences are Venice, Ireland, Mallorca, Greece, and Scotland's Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Skye.

Experiments with light, colour, atmosphere, and space have always characterized Kristine’s work. Her paintings explore time, beauty, memory, and how these relate to the evolution of insight. This metaphysical content is anchored by an interest in science and theories of colour and light.

Artistic Influences: Hieronymus Bosch, Theodore Gericault, Greek & Roman sacred architecture, Ken Price, James Turrell, and Blixa Bargeld.
