Robert Kostka

Robert Kostka was born in 1928 and was predominantly inspired by the 1930s. Internationally this period can be best characterised by the duelling of the world’s foremost political philosophies - Marxist Socialism, Capitalist Democracy, and the Totalitarianism of both Communism and Fascism. The era took a sinister turn with the beginning of National Socialism in Germany, and Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in 1933. The decade would culminate in the inset on the Second World War; a political and social uproar that preoccupied not only artists, but great swathes of the world’s population.
