DescriptionThe kiva is dramatically emphasized in light and centered among the dark shadows of the night. A dark figure stands at the top of the stairs of the kiva against a ray of light with the kiva ladder reaching toward the sky. Figures are seen dancing to the side, wearing traditional ceremonial dress. A drummer stands at the center of the light, arm raised overhead ready to strike the drum, while a man in the shadows at the right raises a large banner. Kloss effectively captures the energy and historic signifcance of this event.On View
